Heritage Early Football Preview

Colorado Prep Report takes an early off-season look at Heritage and how we feel they will do this fall on the football field. We talk about their team, their athletes, and the toughest spots on this group that they need to replace. Learn more about them in this article now!

Breakdown

Eight victories and a first round playoff win over Cherokee Trail are what helped Heritage get their football program back on track in 2015. Building on the success this fall will take some adjustments as their lower enrollments move them down to the Class 4A level. Graduation hits hard, especially defensively, but this group has the talent to compete for a playoff run and potentially more. Size is on their side in the trenches with Preston Mortensen and Matt McClurg back for another go around. At 6-foot-5, 315 pounds and 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, they will be working hard to dominate the trenches. Quarterback Chase Hansen threw for over 1,700 yards as a junior. He will be asked to adjust without Tim Pless to throw to but having a strong rushing option in Tyler Zoesch will help this group move the chains. If the Eagles can reload defensively, this will be a club to follow during the fall.
